The Invisible Wires Debut Album

It doesn’t stop there. As well as playing a variety of gigs locally, Dave, Cath, Benny, Nigel and Spike have been slaving away in the studio.

The Invisible wires have come up with a new offering. Their and debut album is the culmination of three years work and displays shades of the many different sounds the band members are influenced by. Mixed and produced By Dave Burton it is a home-grown affair, which means a lot of time to reflect on the best way to present the songs for the listener. It has been time well spent.
The album starts off with the soaring ‘Uh Oh’, the Invisible Wires funking out on this track, it’s a crowd pleaser. Second up is ‘Natural Disaster’, which introduces an element of Dave’s jazz influences and is served up with Benny’s cocksure, rolling drum beat to guide you through the song.

Next, ‘It Is She’, a patchwork quilt of different textures complementing Dave’s beautifully nurtured lyrics. ‘Along for the Ride’ follows, stomping through itself like a horny Bull trying to get to a meadow full of Heifers, what can I say?!

‘A Little Consideration’ is considered Dave’s lyrical opus, with lavish attention to detail, Dave intertwines his fast paced lyrics with chords that should have been banned years ago. This is a great example of The Invisible Wires working their asses off to produce a sound that might feel quite at home on the Jools Holland show. The Invisible Wires are available for live performances by the way, Mr Holland!

‘Out of Sight’ brings the band back down to planet Earth. It has a gorgeous, full sound complemented by Benny’s stomping metronomic beat. The close harmony vocals are the icing on the top of this song.

Melancholy is the flavour of the next song ‘What Do You Do?’ It is a story of woe, what happens when your heart doesn’t work anymore? Listen to it and find out.

‘Valerie’ throws some alt folk influences in to the mixing pot. ‘Sit and Wait’ is downbeat and subtle.

‘When She Still Longs To Hold Your Hand’ has an extremely long title, but is nevertheless, a quite beautiful song. Up next is ‘Shadows In The Night’ A funky foray into R & B, in the traditional sense of the acronym with Spike’s 70’s retro style keyboard work adding a hint of spice.

The album concludes with the frankly bizarre ‘Daydream Waltz’ With a leviathan drum solo from Benny, this song is best described as Syd Barrett meets fairground organ grinder. Cath’s backing vocals are particularly sweet in this number and Spike shows us his scary organ.
